Your impact

As a Senior Developer you will be responsible for developing and expanding our capabilities in terms of energy modelling and analysis. Your responsibilities will include developing and expanding our toolset to model all aspects of electricity systems from demand and generation aspects to transmission and storage.  

Quantified Carbon is a growing company where your work will directly contribute and influence our development. Your work will directly inform deliveries to industry partners, TSOs, non-profit organisations and more on areas such as policy, business intelligence, decarbonisation strategy, and forecasting.  

Skills and Experience

We are currently seeking motivated and talented individuals to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of energy systems modelling and be highly independent in their work.

Communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and make data-driven decisions.

  • Master's or PhD degree in engineering, computer science, physics or related field
  • Extensive and demonstrated coding experience in Python
  • Experience with C++ and Julia is meritorious
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant software development
  • Experienced with handling and analysing large datasets, including data visualisation and presentation
  • Knowledge of SQL is meritorious
  • Knowledge of energy systems and markets is meritorious  
  • Specifically, energy grid or power system modelling (e.g. GenX, PyPSA, PSSE, pandapower)
  • Integrated Assessments Modelling (e.g. MESSAGE, OSeMOSYS)
  • Experienced with software versioning Git
  • Knowledge of / interest in Machine Learning is meritorious
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Consultancy experience (either as freelance or as part of a consultancy firm) is meritorious

More information

We welcome applicants from around the world. Please be mindful of the time zone, as this role requires participation in regular meetings with staff based in Europe.
The location can either be remote or at the main office in Stockholm. Quantified Carbon will provide required hardware to perform your role alongside allowance for setting up a home office or joining a coworking space for locations outside of Stockholm.
